Stefano Bini, MD
Professor of Orthopedics, UCSF
Dr. Bini is a Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He specializes in primary and complex knee and hip replacement. Current research interests include the impact of digital medicine on orthopedic care delivery, change management strategies in health care, and improving the results of total joint surgery.
Prior to UCSF, Stefano gained administrative experience working at Kaiser Permanente. He held numerous leadership positions including Chief of Orthopedics and was the recipient of the California Health Care Foundation’s Leadership Fellowship. A short book on enabling change is forthcoming. He also serves on Nokia's Health Care Advisory Board, and as medical advisor to health care start-ups.
Dr. Bini has over 100 scientific presentations at national and international meetings, serves on committees for national professional associations, and has received several teaching and research awards. He is the Associate Editor of Arthroplasty Today and is a reviewer for four other journals.
Stefano was born in Italy, raised in Australia, and educated in California. He is married to his (amazing) wife and has two (awesome) kids. He is adamant about learning guitar despite having no inherent musical talent.
